Our shrewd trainer Kevin has once again pulled another rabbit out of the hat with his purchase of the beautifully bred Sir John Monash.
Sir John had not seen a racecourse prior to his debut at Southwell last Sunday however the 3 year old put in a breathtaking performance cruising throughout and finishing just one length behind the more experienced winner Berkshire Phantom, a horse that had already been given a mark of 82.
Kevin paid just £6000 for Sir John (£165k as a yearling) however is now valued at considerably more and has since been sold to stay in the yard.
The signs therefore are extremely positive for our new recruit Oscar ( see pic from Saturday) purchased at the same time as Sir John as they have both been working brilliantly together with Kevin reporting that it would be difficult to split them based on their homework.
Poster Child is now back cantering and was in great form on Saturday morning when this lucky owner went to visit her.
It was absolutely fantastic to see her back on the gallops and I made sure that she was rewarded for her efforts by a steady stream of polo mints, which were gratefully received by our sweet natured mare.
The Robin Hood team will be at the yard next Sunday for an official visit and we are looking forward to meeting some of our new owners including Emily and Alison for the first time.
