Our philosphy

Our Philosophy, Values, and Beliefs.

Our past experience of being involved and managing  various racing syndicates over many years has helped us develop a clear philosophy for Robin Hood Racing. Our main objective is to create an environment where all our owners feel welcome, and empowered to be part of the process of owning a racehorse.

Robin Hood Racing XXII are a Nottinghamshire based horse racing syndicate with an ethical approach to racehorse ownership, the welfare and best interests of our horses will always come first and we will always strive to provide an environment where our owners feel comfortable. Our Owners are encouraged to visit the stables, watch their horse on the gallops, talk to our trainer, enjoy being a member of our racing family, enjoy social events, and of course celebrate (fingers crossed) on days out at the racecourse.

Upon meeting and getting to know Kevin and Amanda it became clear that they both have a philosophy in alignment with our own and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have found the right people to care for our horses.

To illustrate the above Frost Racing have a life-long plan that covers the beginning of the horses racing career up to and beyond the day they retire, this policy ensures that when a horse retires from racing they find a home where they will be given respect and looked after.

We were very diligent in our research to find a suitable home for our syndicate and we are now delighted to be in a position to offer like-minded people the opportunity to join us on our journey.

About Rob & Stewart

Rob and Stewart share a passion for horses and horse racing and have owned and had shares in many horses over a period of 40 years.

Having been involved in numerous syndicates and taking the best from their own experiences it has always been their intention to form a syndicate which would express their own values and principles of how such an organisation should operate.

In his daytime role Rob is CEO of a financial organisation. He has had an interest in horses from an early age, having ridden himself and then followed his own daughters as they both rode successfully. As his daughters grew up, Rob and his wife expanded their love of horses into racehorse ownership. Starting with small shares in syndicates, they went on to have their own horses in training.

Rob met Stewart for the first time at a yard open day.Through mutual syndicate ownerships, primarily through the racing stables based at Carburton near Clumber Park, they had numerous enjoyable days at the races – making lifelong friends along the way.

Stewart is now enjoying semi-retirement providing a private mentoring service and working for the Football Association as a Coach Developer and Football Mentor.

In a career spanning over 30 years, he has worked at Chesterfield F.C ,Derby County,Nottingham Forest, Notts County, and The Football Association and has undertaken various roles including Centre Director, Head Coach, and Recruitment Officer.

Trainer profile

Kevin Frost has worked all his life with horses, mostly in the racing industry. He rode as a conditional jockey, before becoming a Head Lad and later Assistant Trainer.

He also spent many years at the Northern Racing College, where he became Training Manager. While he enjoyed his time at the college, and met his wife Amanda there, he missed racing and became Assistant Trainer to Ian Woods in Lambourn.

After a couple of years Kevin joined the late Alan Swinbank. This was a time fondly remembered, with the chance to be involved with some ‘proper’ horses. These included the likes of  the globe-trotting Collier Hill, Turbo Lynn, Alfie Flitts and a host of other classy horses.

Kevin later joined Ian Williams as Assistant Trainer. Once again, he was fortunate to work with good horses such as Weird Al and Wayward Prince, and produced winners under both codes on a regular basis. He eventually decided the time was right to put all that great experience to good use.

With the help of some good friends and colleagues, Kevin started training in his own right near Stratford-upon-Avon, then relocated to Shropshire’ss Helshaw Grange in 2015.

In 2017, he was offered the chance to relocate to Butterton Stables in Staffordshire, which had excellent facilities and room for expansion. However, Kevin found that the horses were being affected by pollen from avenue of poplar trees which lined the long drive. This caused respiratory issues, which caused performances in the summer months to suffer, though the horses came back strongly in the autumn and winter. This was the main reason he decided to relocate again, in 2020, to Danethorpe Stables in Nottinghamshire.

The facilities at Danethorpe are truly excellent with an indoor ride, equine pool and a mile-and-a-half gallop.

Kevin’s record provides evidence that he has a eye for a bargain and this can be best demonstrated by his purchase and training of Documenting who he bought for 1k and has since won £148,000.

The stable are currently in tremendous form and in 2022 has statistics of 84 runs and 15 wins, with a strike rate of 18%.
